I designed a poster for the FIFA World Cup 26 (Vancouver) Poster Contest, guided by the creative requirements and outline provided. Although my final design was not chosen, it was fun to create a composition to depict Vancouver.

Some constraints and requirements were:
- Include only the event title and date as text, in English, using the provided typeface (FWC26 Ultra Condensed Black)
- Include the Host City Logo in full color format (even though the color choice is at the discretion of the designer)
- Final deliverable as PDF, portrait format in 594mm x 761mm (300dpi)
- Copyright (ensure all artwork is not AI generated, no depiction of notable buildings/landmarks such as the stadium or players)

Suggestions provided were:
- Promote excitement for the event and create awareness
- Promote the host city (Vancouver) to the public in your own lens
- Showcase Vancouver's vibrancy, multiculturalism, diversity and values of inclusion
- "We are a force of nature" (imagery of land, sea, and sky including fauna of bears, orcas, eagles and thunderbirds)
- Cultural significance of the First Nations  Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh – bringing Indigenous history, forms and ways of being to a global audience

The Process
First, I started by sketching out multiple iterations of the poster layout focusing on the composition only.
After finalizing what imagery I wanted to use, I then imported the sketch to Procreate, where I played around with different colors. I initially used the colors from the palette, but realized it didn't match what I imagined so I chose my own colors instead.
I wanted to emphasize the land, sea and sky part of Vancouver, so I chose muted tones of blue and green, with a hint of vibrant red.
Then I transferred the file over to Illustrator to make vector based illustrations, as Procreate had some pixelations.
